Overview
Every part was tracked, arranged and mixed at home, then cut with cover art. A small project, but a complete one: writing, performance, engineering and editing done at home.
This independent project was created using multiple instruments, both played and recorded by me and generated with online plugins. A different kind of storytelling, except this creative outlet becomes auditory storytelling and an ideated creative concept.
Creative approach
One pair of hands across every part — arrangement, performance, mix and edit — so the sound and the picture were shaped together rather than one serving the other.
Process
- Started by researching the original song: what instruments were used, and which instruments create nostalgic memories. Started recording on a DAW software.
- Mixing in BandLab and Studio One. Testing different vocal combinations, instrument combinations and plugins.
- Versions tested with different audiences, asking questions on feeling, mood and emotion, to ensure I had created the right effect on the listener.
- Cover art, final edits and uploading onto Youtube.
